Freshly Made Sketches 2

I'm so excited to be bringing you a card I made for the second sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  We had an unbelievable turnout for our first week with 41 participants!  So I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support.  I had so much fun looking at everyone's fabulous cards and marveling at everyone's talent.  I can't wait to see what's in store for us this week!

Lesley has cooked up another great sketch for us.  Have a look!

So on to my card.  I've been thinking that I really need to get going on my Christmas cards, so that's the theme I chose for my card.

I used Chocolate Chip as my card base for no other reason I handn't used it in a really long time.  It used to be my go-to color for a lot of my cards, but since Early Espresso came along, I have been neglecting it.  I was feeling a little guilty so I used it along with some retired designer paper called Ski Slope.

For my stamped image, I used the gorgeous sentiment stamp from Season of Joy.  I oh-so carefully inked it up with Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive and Baja Breeze markers.  I was a little nervous that the image wouldn't stamp cleanly, so I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw that it looked almost perfect!  I colored in the snowflake again with some Baja Breeze, punched it out, and layered it with dimensionals over the original image.  I think it's a little hard to see in the picture.  And I also used a red glimmer brad on the center of my snowflake and I'm almost embarrassed to so say that I think this is the first time I've used one of those!  I bought them last year from the Holiday Mini and never used them.  (Oh the shame)!

Now it's time for you to check out the samples from our amazing design team.  Then you should definitely head on over to Freshly Made Sketches and link up your project.  I can't wait to see what you create!

You did get a beautiful image!! I have such problems with markers in stamps but I am going to have to try it and see if I can come close to copying your card. The Chocolate base makes the colors so rich!

(Thanks for the Perfect Princess pick!)

Beautiful card, Jen! Like you, I used to be a Chocolate Chip person. Now I rarely use it! After seeing your fabulous design today, I am inspired to pull it back out! The glimmer brad in the center of the snowflake is the perfect touch, and I love how you popped up the snowflake "O"! What a great "clean" card!

I love how the Chocolate Chip looks as your background - sets off the design beautifully! And I used a glimmer brad this week as well - I also seem to have a full container of them :) Beautiful card!

Jen, this is AWESOME! Season of Joy was one of my very first stamp sets and I still love it. I especially love what you did with it! I find myself neglecting Chocolate Chip as well, so I'm inspired to use it today. Glimmer brads are one of my favorite embellishments, so I adore that accent!

Jen, this is beautiful! I love the focal image and how you colored it in - fantastic job! And I hear you on neglecting Chocolate Chip for Early Espresso. The same thing happened to me so I'm rediscovering my love for Chocolate Chip now. :)

Gorgeous Christmas card. I love this sentiment square too but not so good at colouring it in as you. Will have to practise! x
