Thank You

Today I'm playing along with three challenges that are new for me.  The Challenge had a nifty sketch with some layers that are askew (and who can resist an askew layer), City Crafter is looking for burlap and Retro Rubber is looking for the crimping tool that I'm sure hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.  So I put all this together and this is what I came up with.

I love to use burlap and since the color is so close to kraft I used that as my card base and then accented it with some bright yellow and black.  I stamped a simple zig zag pattern on white which I hoped wouldn't detract from the die cut sentiment that I layered over it.  All this is layered over a crimped layer and as I was busy crimping my card stock I remembered why I don't use that tool:  it's really difficult to get that card stock to stay straight as it's passing through.  The longer the paper is the worse the effect gets.  It's a cool tool, but better equipped for small pieces I think.

It's very cold here.  And I mean really cold.  There's no snow, which is a good thing in my book, and I'll take a cold day over a snowy day any time.  But I'm dreaming of spring.  I keep telling myself that it will be here soon!  Stay safe if you live in a cold place too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Your card is perfectly done to combine all three great challenges! Love the burlap on the crimped layer! Yes, I am freezing here in Michigan with frigid temps and a good 10" of fresh snow, so I am dreaming of Spring, too! Thank you so much for joining Retro Rubber this week!

This is an excellent card! I love everything about it - especially the burlap! I totally agree with trying to keep the paper straight! I think that is why my crimper is hidden in the deep recesses of my craft cave! Thank you for playing along with us at Retro Rubber!

Great job combining challenges! The pops of yellow look so bright and Spring-like against the kraft and burlap. Hope the snow stays away and the weather warms up for you.

I think I would have run away from the idea of crimping, burlap, and layers that are askew would have scared me - but you pulled them together perfectly! I love the yellow die cut peeking out of the bottom.

I never bought a crimper but I guess we all have items of which we thought we really needed them:) Your story made me smile! And I love your take on our theme! Thanks for joining us at CCCB this week!

Great card, Jen! Just love the color combination... so crisp!! I agree with the crimper not being great with longer pieces of paper, particularly when you insert at an angle. I usually use it more to break up paper fibers to manipulate pieces. Thanks for including RRBC in your stamping fun this week. Hope to see you come back often!!

What a great combination of challenges. The crimper can be a bit frustrating, but can give nice texture as well! Thank you for joining us at Retro Rubber.
