CAS(E) This Sketch 269 Meets Fusion

All the stars aligned for my card this week for CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion.   I loved the colors of the Fusion inspiration and the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch was perfect for a brand new stamp set that I got last week!  So combine them all I did.  Take a look:

And if those two challenges weren't enough at House of Cards they want a floral corner, CAS on Friday is looking for black, white, and pink and Where Creativity Meets C9 it's all about spring!   My new turnabout stamp fits in the corner just so and the pink colors say spring to me!  I incorporated several shades of pink plush a dash of silver to make this extra special.  It is a Mother's Day card after all!

Thanks for stopping by!  We'd love it if you joined us at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion.  My fellow design teammates have made some GORGEOUS cards to inspire you to play along with us!

Freshly Made Sketches 334

I am happy to say that spring has finally sprung around here!  The sun is out, the temperatures are in the 60's, and even though it is raining today I will not complain one bit.  I've been waiting forever, it seems, for the wet, cold, and blustery weather to amscray and I think it finally has!  All this weather goodness comes just in time for a brand new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is Amy and my magic ball tells me that you are going to lover her sketch!

Since the weather put me in a good mood I decided to be a little adventurous with my card this week.  I broke out my lovely watercolors and using the colors of the Sunday Stamps challenge splashed some color around.  The result is not half bad!  The texture of the watercolor paper made getting a good impression of the sentiment stamp a bit difficult but I kind of like how it seems a bit distressed.  I added some enamel dots for a bit more texture and just before I photographed this I went over the watercolor layer with Wink of Stella for a bit of pizzazz.  You'll have to trust me on that one because I'm sure you can't see it in the photo!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow teamies at Freshly Made Sketches have made some gorgeous cards this week so be sure to check them out.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

CAS(E) This Sketch 268

It's time for another sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch!  I'm not afraid to tell you that this sketch had me stumped at first.  I tried a couple of different versions before I settled on this one.

I wish that I had angled my little watercolored panel a bit to mimic the sketch but that didn't occur to me until after I cut it!  And if you could see the previous versions I came up with you would understand that I just wanted to make a card that was pleasing to the eye and basically followed the sketch.  In my eye this one did the trick so I went with it!  And I know that the sentiment is in the wrong direction BUT I wanted to keep it within the layer on the side (a-la the sketch) and the only way I could do that was to turn it so that is was vertical.  At Creative With Stamps they are celebrating 2 years with a challenge that is CAS with a sentiment.  I think this fits the bill!

Thanks for stopping by!  Our amazing CAS(E) This Sketch design team has created some fantastic cards using this sketch so be sure to check them out!

Freshly Made Sketches 333

Hello Wednesday!  The calendar tells me it's time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is Narelle - who is the queen of layers but does the most CAS layers I've ever seen!  Who knew layers and CAS could be used in the same sentence!  I'll tell you who - Narelle!

I decided to go in a completely different direction with my card and used no layers at all!  Yep - this is a one-layer-wonder!  On the way to making my card for the challenge I briefly considered using different images- namely gnomes - but quickly realized my idea was rubbish.  Then I spied this oldy-but-goody Dot Spot stamp set on my desk and the proverbial light bulb went off in my head.  I chose a color scheme that I love and two seconds later this card was born.  Ok, it wasn't two seconds but you get the idea - this was really easy to put together.  I think I spent more time looking for the perfect sentiment than I did on the concept!

We love it when you play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches so I hope you do.  Our always amazing design team has knocked it out of the park this week with some amazing inspiration to get you in the crafty spirit!  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 267 Meets Fusion

Babies, babies are everywhere!  I've got three nieces who are all having baby boys this year so I need some shower cards as well as congratulations-you'll-never-sleep-again cards!  The sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and the inspiration challenge at Fusion combined together to make this card:

I immediately zoned into the elephant and the soft shades of gray in the Fusion challenge.  I love using gray on my cards because the color is relatively neutral and gray is such an awesome color.  A softly polka dotted background and this card was done!  Easy peasy.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you can join us at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion!

Freshly Made Sketches 332

Hello Wednesday!  It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is brought to you by Karren.

I changed my mind about a million times on the way to making this card.  This is actually the first incarnation - the other ones didn't make the cut!  This long, cold winter has made me neglect my pretty butterflies so it was a treat to dig out this old favorite from Altenew.  The colors come from the latest challenge at Fab Friday.

I sure hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  If you are in need of inspiration you can always check out the design team cards.  You're gonna love them!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 266

Initially I had a lot of ideas swirling around my head when I sat down to make my card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  Those three circles made me think of lots of things:  flowers, coffee stains, abstract grungy images, just to name a few.  But in the end I was inspired by a stamp set that I spied as I was looking through my stash for some of the other aforementioned stamps!

Sometimes this "sentiment" is just the thing to make me smile after a long day at work.  This card is uber CAS with just a simple white and black background and is one-layer to boot.  At Just Us Girls they are looking for CAS so I'm pretty sure this fits the bill there!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can join us at CAS(E) This Sketch!  Our design team has got some fantastic cards to inspire you!

Supplies
Stamps:  Tech Talk (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps)
Paper:  White (Catherine Pooler)

Freshly Made Sketches 331

How about a brand new sketch challenge from your friends at Freshly Made Sketches?  And how about a brand new guest designer?  This month we are so pleased to say that Tracey McNeely will be joining us as our guest designer!  Pop on over to her blog to say hello!  And this week our sketch is brought  to you by Cécile.  I predict you are going to love it!

What a fantastic sketch!  How can you not love it?  Those wispy leaves are quintessential Cécile and I tried to do them a little justice with my silver ones.  My silver and gold color scheme are inspired by the anything goes challenge at TGIF.  The inspiration is to come from one of their designers and I chose Shesha Bloodhart's card as my inspiration.  I love how her design is a classic silver and gold one.

Thanks for stopping by.  And I hope that you can join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week with your own take on our sketch!
