CAS(E) This Sketch 311

It's time for a new challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch!  This week our sketch is designed by Brian and it's a great design that is open to a wide range of interpretations.

I decided to incorporate the butterfly challenge at TGIF Challenge along with the purple challenge at Just Us Girls on my card.  I love how those butterflies seem to be floating across that panel!  I added a few sequins to take up some of the white space and a birthday sentiment and quick as a wink I was done!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you can join us at CAS(E) This Sketch this week!

Supplies
Stamps:  Painted Butterflies (Altenew); Sentimental Birthday (Winnie & Walter)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Amethyst Allure (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris (Altenew): Nocturne (Versafine Clair)

Freshly Made Sketches 377

We've got a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess is Narelle, who always inspires me to add layers - but in a clean way!

I wanted to interpret those circles and square layer on the sketch a bit differently than the obvious so I stamped a grid on the background and layered on some colorful blooms and leaves.  (The grid allowed me to play along with the challenge at Addicted to Sketch).  I love how this turned out!

Thanks for stopping by! Our Freshly Made Sketches design team has created some great cards this week to inspire you so I hope you can play along with us!  We'e love to see you in our gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Summer Silhouettes, Off the Grid (Stampin' Up!); Tiny Words (Simon Says Stamp)
Ink:  Old Olive, Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up!); Nocturne (Versafine Clair)

CAS(E) This Sketch 310 Meets Fusion

I had a lot of fun combining the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the rainbow challenge at Fusion.  The sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to layer the ROYGBIV colors of the rainbow and top it off with this on-a-line die cut sentiment.

At As You See It Challenge they are looking for the answer to what I think is simple.  Well, that's simple!  It's white space and a focal image that is bold and maybe dramatic.  For this card I love how the bold colors only take up the bottom of the card leaving all that glorious white space!

Thanks for stopping by!  I love these two challenges and I'd love it if you played along with us.  There's a great sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch and at Fusion you've got a sketch and/or an inspiration to choose from!

Supplies
Stamps:  Hand Lettered Hello )WPlus9)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Vintage Violet, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red (Stampin' Up); Green Parakeet, Enchanted Evening, Dark Indigo (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Die of the Month May 2018 (Spellbinders)

Freshly Made Sketches 376

I think it's been a few weeks since I made a Christmas card so our latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches became the inspiration for the latest card to go into my Christmas card stash.  Our hostess is Karren and her sketch is simple and elegant.

I have been dying to CASE this card and finally bought the stamp set that had the lovely buffalo plaid image.  It's not as wide as the horizontal layer on the sketch so I cut my card down to a 4 1/4-inch square so that it would be more in proportion.  I added some holly leaves, which I think are a little large for this wee card, but the glue is permanent so they are staying!  The "joy" sentiment was die cut from some glimmer paper so that I could play along with Jingle Belles.

I love sketches like this where the design leaves a lot of room for interpretation - the gallery is always so diverse!  I hope you have a chance to check out the inspiration from our Freshly Made Sketches design team and join us!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 309

I'll admit that the challenge this week at CAS(E) This Sketch had me troubled when I first saw it.  I had a few design ideas floating around in my head but none that I really liked.  Then, as I was perusing my stash, I came across this cover up die and thought that I could use all those angles to replicate the shapes of the challenge.

Although not exact, the cutouts on the background die gave me some room to add colors in the approximate shape of the banners in the upper and lower corners of the sketch.  The other die cuts replicate the small diamonds across the middle but I added the YOU die cut overlaid with a birthday sentiment to reinforce that design.

I am also playing along with the die cut challenge at Happy Little Stampers and the color challenge at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  And please check out the amazing cards from the design team at CAS(E) This Sketch for some amazing inspiration.  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 375

I took a little unexpected blog break this last week so I'm excited to be kick off a new card design with a brand new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess is Cécile and I love her sketch!

I have some fun triangle-tree dies and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw this sketch.  But then I decided to do one subtle triangle with some embossing paste and a stencil then add some flowers.  I used the colors from The Paper Players challenge and had a tough time deciding what kind of flower to use.  I went with this modern take on a flower then had a tough time deciding on which die cut leaves to use!  So many tough decisions with this card!

I love how this turned out, though!  I love all that white space with a pop of color and I love that the embossing paste gives this subtle texture.

Wait until you see how the Freshly Made Sketches design team has interpreted this sketch.  So many great ideas!  I hope we'll see you in the gallery this week!

Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches 374

I learned a new word just in time for this week's Freshly Made Sketch challenge.  It's trypophobia and it is the fear of shapes!  This is relevant because our sketch hostess this week is the very talented Jen Brum and, as is well documented, she does not like circles.  So what does she do?  She faces those fears head on and designs a sketch with about a billion circles on it!  Way to go Jen!

For my part, I thought bokeh dots were the way to go...

There are love themed challenges all around blogland this week so I was able to play along with a few of them such as The Paper Players, AAA Cards, and Just Us Girls.  I'm not that confidant in my ability to do a decent watercolor background so I used some patterned paper that did the work for me.  I added my bokeh dots with some stencils and stamped a big old sentiment in the middle.  The idea for this card came to me when I was out walking on my lunch hour on Monday.  The temperatures were near 60-degrees which is a nice bonus in what are normally the coldest winter days around here.  I'm pretty sure the warm temperatures and the sunshine inspired my creativity!

Our Freshly Made Sketches design team have made some fantastic cards this week with this sketch.  I'm always amazed at where these sketches take us!  I hope you can play along with us this week!

Tag You're It 80

A little over a year ago at Tag You're It Challenge we said goodbye....but not for good!  I'm so happy to say that with challenge #80 WE ARE BACK!

Tags are such fun projects to make.  You can use them as tags on gifts or you can add them to a card front to make a great card.  For our comeback challenge we've got a valentine - love is in the air - theme!

For sure I wanted to incorporate some hearts onto my tag.  I found an old stamp set that had a few heart images with various patterns so I stamped a couple of them in red and pink.  To my tag I added a die cut "love" sentiment and a couple of those stamped hearts along with a sentiment on an angle.  At Time Out Challenges their inspiration photo had a lot of hearts so I wanted to play along with them as well!

It's so great to be back at Tag You're It Challenge!  Our design team has got some great tags to inspire you to play along with us!
