CAS(E) This Sketch 374 Meets Fusion

So it's that time again when I get to create a little experiment of my own by combining the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration at Fusion.  Let me start by saying my colors are just a tiny bit off.....

I wanted to do some die cut letters in pretty patterned paper in the colors reminiscent of the Fusion inspiration photo but I didn't have an exact match.  The paper I chose had a bit of the same summer vibe to it so I went with it.  I cut the letters out of new-to-me digital cut file and I love the modern font, but I wish I had framed them in a dark color so they showed up a bit better.  The sketch is a retro one that debuted on August 23, 2018.  I had a look at the card I made and wish I hadn't!  LOL!  I don't know what I was thinking with that card!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can play along with us at CAS(E) This Sketch or Fusion...or both!

Supplies
Digital SVG:  Bold Alpha Lower (The Ton)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Sweet Sorbet DSP (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 437

Hey all!  I'm super excited today for a couple of reasons.  First, it's Wednesday and that means we've got a new challenge debuting at Freshly Made Sketches.  The second is that the first phase of Massachusetts businesses re-opening began on Monday this week and it includes salons so I'm getting a hair cut on Friday!  It's the little things :)

Our hostess and sketch designer this week is Cécile.  I love her abstract design!  I used a stencil with a vertical design and went over it with some embossing paste to create the vertical lines in the sketch.  To keep it clean I added a simple die-cut sentiment in black.  At the last minute I decided to add a couple of enamel dots in yellow.  I love the pop of color they give!

Thanks for stopping by!  Check out the amazing cards from my fellow teammates at Freshly Made Sketches.  I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration to play along with us!

Supplies
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Black Licorice (My Favorite Things)
Accessories:  Chevron Pattern stencil (Simon Says Stamp); Thanks Script die (Mama Elephant); white embossing paste (Dreamweaver); enamel dew drops (Freckled Fawn)

Less is More Guest Designer

I am lucky enough to be a guest designer over at Less is More!  That is one of my favorite challenges and their design team is top notch so it's always a thrill when they like my cards. 🤗Their new challenge is a one-layer one - always a challenge and one of my faves!

I actually made two cards for this challenge but the first one was rubbish - so that's where I put it.  The second time around I was determined to use this dotted leaf stamp but I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to use it.  So I fell back to a tried and true thing for me - draw a rectangle around it.  To my eye it makes the image stand out and doesn't add any of those pesky layers.  This time, though, I got adventurous and included a couple of squiggly lines!  What a rebel I am! 🤣 Truth be told I was a bit nervous about those squiggly lines because I did them by hand and was afraid I'd get them all wrong and have to go back to the beginning.  Luckily they came out just fine.

I had a quick peak around blogland and found that at CASology their challenge cue word is "plant."  Coincidentally my dotted leaf is a plant!

Special thanks to Less is More for inviting me to play along with them - and to Anita coordinating it all.  It's always an honor to join you ladies 😊

CAS(E) This Sketch 373

I love the layout of our latest challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.  It's a classic design and for some reason put me in mind of some clouds...and a butterfly.

On the background I sponged some clouds using a stencil and I really wanted a pop of color for that circle focal point.  I opted for a butterfly in a bold orange.  I used vellum for the horizontal layer.  The frosty, see-through layer of the vellum didn't detract from the background and gave my good place to stamp my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a chance to join us at CAS(E) This Sketch.

Supplies
Stamps:  A Better You (Clearly Besotted); Tiny Words (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper:   Soft Stone (Papertrey Ink); Whisper White, Vellum (Stampin' Up!); Bristol Smooth

Freshly Made Sketches 436

We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is Jen Brum and I love the classic lines of her sketch.  There is so much you can do with it!

I chose to go with shades of green for my entire card a-la the challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare.  I even sponged the background on this one with my Distress Inks, something I'm getting better at!  For the focal image I layered the leaves in several shades of green, framed the layer in black and added a black sentiment.  I think it's soft and soothing.

Thanks for stopping by!  My Freshly Made Sketches teammates have made some fantastic cards with this sketch so I hope you check them out!

Our new sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and our inspiration at Fusion combined as a big ol' ink splat on my card!

Freshly Made Sketches 435

Hey everyone!  I'm so excited to say that I've got my card ready for our newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches ON TIME!  Things have been so crazy at work lately that I've been a bit lax with my posts but this week I'm so happy to join everyone on the right day!  Our sketch is designed by Kim and my CAS heart loves it!

I decided to combine a couple of other challenges with my card using the colors at The Paper Players and the non-traditional color challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown.  What is probably quite difficult to see in the picture is that on all that white space I embossed an outline image of a poinsettia.  It's quite pretty in real life - you'll have to trust me on that!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team members have got some great cards to inspire you to play along with us.  So join us in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Winter Flowers, Tiny Words (Simon Says  Stamp)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Green Parakeet (Papertrey Ink); Melon Mambo, Pool Party (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Versamark; Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  Opaque White Embossing Powder (WOW!)

Freshly Made Sketches 434

I'm on a recurring theme of being late with my DT posts.  (:  So here I am with my card for our latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess and challenge designer is Linda.  I took her sketch and made a Mother's Day card.

All those layers actually gave me some pause.   I tossed around the idea to use some patterned paper for the two background layers but I really wanted to use this beautiful flower stamp and didn't want anything else to overpower those images. So I opted to use some white cardstock for those layers to let the morning glories to be the star of the card.

I love the morning glories in my garden - the only problem is the resident woodchuck loves them too. Boo.  At CAS on Friday they are looking for a favorite flower.  These are a favorite of mine....and the woodchuck.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Stamps:  Morning Glory (Altenew); Keep It Simple Mother (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Olive, Moss (Altenew); Onyx Black (Versafine)
