Freshly Made Sketches 570

We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess and sketch designer this week is Jen Timko.  I loved the sketch when I first saw it, but oddly it gave me trouble when I tried translating it to an actual card.  But I eventually prevailed!

I had many ideas floating around in my head when I contemplated the sketch, but none of them panned out!  I wanted to use some of my patterned paper stash, but nothing looked quite right to me.  Then I stumbled on this old Stampin' Up! set and decided to use the big sentiment in it and draw lines around it, which would take the place of that narrow layer at the top of the sketch.

I colored the stamp with four different SU markers then "huffed" on the stamp to keep the ink wet.  Remember huffing?!?!?!  It worked and I was pleased to see the stamp inked in the colors I intended!

My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team members have made some absolutely fabulous cards with this sketch, so you just have to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 569

Hi friends!  We've got a new sketch for you today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is Jacquie and I love how her sketch makes so many designs possible.

My card took many twists and turns this week!  I started out wanting to use a beautiful stenciled flower image, but the image was too big to fit on a landscape oriented card.  I thought about changing it to portrait, but the proportions of the layers would be wrong so I scrapped that idea.  So I went back and increased the scale and found myself with a giant 6 x 6 card.  Still I was not happy so I did what any crafter would do....I slept on it.

The next day I grabbed this graphic image that's been in my stash for ages, stamped it in black and filled in some of the squares with the colors from the latest Global Design Project challenge.  The slim horizontal layer was just a repeat of those colors in tiny blocks that I glued together.

I have no idea what kind of sentiment I would put on this card, or who I would give it to, but it pleases whatever bit of artistic soul I've got.  😊

Thanks for stopping by!  As you might expect my teammates at Freshly Made Sketches have got some great cards to WOW you with, so be sure to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 568

Happy Wednesday friends!  It's time to reveal our new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess and sketch designer is Judy.  She has given us a sketch that seems so simple at first, but as you will see by the design team cards can be interpreted in so many fabulous, crafty ways!

I went old-school designer paper heavy on my card.  I wanted some patterns and contrast for my design and this designer series paper seemed to fit the bill.  I added the trio of flowers in pink to take the place of the squares on the sketch.  Totally ok!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can join us at Freshly Made Sketches for our challenge this week!

Supplies
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Loves Me Not DSP (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 567

Welcome back to a new year of challenges from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our favorite Texan, Amy, is our hostess and she's cooked up a beauty for us!

This card was a topsy-turvy journey for me!  My first card idea involved layers and flowers.  But the colors were wrong, the flowers were wrong, the layers were wrong, so I scrapped it.  Then I remembered these bow images and thought I could stamp them and draw vertical lines to each one so that they seemed to be dangling.  To accommodate the rest of the sketch I drew in a rectangle design and tucked in a sentiment on the vertical side.

I do love a one-layer design and some go together for me easier than others.  Despite my early troubles, this one ended up being perfect to my eyes!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out the amazing cards that our Freshly Made Sketches design team has made to inspire you to play along with us!
