Deconstructed Sketch 42 and Just Add Ink 108

Despite the fact that the calendar still says winter, it has been decidedly spring like around here the last few days.  And I think this balmy weather is going to continue next week too!  I'm no fan of winter, so this is great news to me.  To celebrate all this yummy spring weather, I've been busy making flowery cards.  The first one I've got to show you I made with the gorgeous colors at Just Add Ink and the very fabby Deconstructed Sketch.

I love Island Indigo and I can't believe that I don't use it more.  For this card I used some Island Indigo DSP for the vertical layer.  I even paper pieced the flower from one of the other patterns in this pack!  I crinkled up some Pool Party seam binding ribbon then used my Bow-Easy to make this bow.  I really wanted to make one of those crinkly and loosely gathered bows that I keep seeing everywhere but I haven't got the hang of it yet.  If anybody wants to help a girl out and point me toward a tutorial I'd be much obliged!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  4. Oh my! This is just beautiful. You took that color combo and slam dunked it! I will case this one!
By the Way. I like the bow the way you have it neat and sweet. The crinkley ones are scene stealers and your card is too pretty to be overshadowed with a sloppy bow. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!

  5. Took me a minute to pick my jaw up off the floor. This might be my favorite Jen creation of all time! (It does use my favorite colors after all.) Just stunning! Wow!

  8. Wow! Jen, this card is a-ma-zing!! Love all the white space, and the touches of Early Espresso; you've used the JAI colours beautifully. Not sure where I learnt how to make shabby bows, but I'll email you what I do!

  9. Jen I absolutely love your card!

Your bow is lovely - you could try spraying a little water onto your hands and scrunching (that's what I do once the bow is tied) and it gives a crinkled effect. Not sure if that's the look you're after?
