Is it April Fool's already? It sure doesn't feel like it to me! I haven't got any jokes to share but I do have a card for the newest color palette from colourQ and the latest design from Seize the Sketch, which just happens to be designed by little ol' me!
I recently took the clean and simple Online Card Class and one of the techniques that was demonstrated was making your own plaid. Basically you mask off strips on some card stock and sponge away. I was a little intimidated to try this at first, sure that I would make a big mess. What colors would look good together? How would I arrange them? But then I saw these gorgeous colourQ colors I knew that Arielle did the hard work of choosing the colors so I couldn't possibly mess up the design! I'm so glad I tried it because I love these colors and I think they make a pretty fab plaid!
After I expended all that energy making the plaid I was stumped on a design for the rest of my card. (I may have designed the sketch, but that doesn't mean that I knew what I wanted to do with it, LOL) so my friend Rita suggested using vellum. She's so smart because this was a fantastic idea! The plaid still shows through the vellum and I'm left with a fun interpretation of the sketch!
My crafting teamies at colourQ and Seize the Sketch have created some awesome crafty goodness for you to see! So be sure to head over and check them out! Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteLOL! You've finally given me a reason to look at the colors suggested in color challenges! I've never been interested in color challenges. I just prefer to pick my own colors when making cards. But, I've also never tried making my own plaid even though I love the ones I see other cardmakers doing. I've never played around to see what colors work and what colors I like overlapping... just too lazy, I guess, but just maybe some of the combos in the various color challenges that are out there would at least be a good place to start playing with plaids and see what colors really do work well when layered over each other. Thanks for the idea! Your plaid is great!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Simply, perfect!
