I love the moody colors in the Color Throwdown challenge this week. And when I saw the layout at CAS(E) This Sketch an idea popped into my head.
I envisioned a beautiful sponged background in shades of pink and purple then an image in silhouette stamped over it. I forgot to take into account that I don't sponge card stock all that well. For all my years of stamping there a few techniques that I can't quite get the hang of. Sponging is one of them. I imagine it's because I don't use those techniques often enough to be good at them but in this case I did discover that those little sponge daubers that come on the hollow, black thingy that you can stick your finger in gives me better control than the Tim Holtz sponging pads. Those sponging pads look streaky every time I use them. Live and learn!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love those striking colours too Jen! I'm also with you on the sponging . . . I don't do it very often, I am always disappointed when I get the streaks and stripes . . . I always think that I am doing what everyone tells you to do, start off the page first and then work gently in, but I still get those awful marks! You seem to have nailed it with this one, so keep doing it ;) Have a lovely weekend my friend! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and peaceful Jen!!
ReplyDeleteI too have not mastered the sponging technique of any form. I am always having to cover up some sponge mark of a perfect circle or some other muddy blend with either a leaf or butterfly. I have mastered the covering up technique...perfectly! LOL I have been eyeing those Tim Holtz rectangle pads and applicator forever. I think I will stick with the SU hollow black thingies as you called them. ;) BTW...I think your card looks Perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Jen. Love the multi colored background with those silhouette image. Great sponging. The style of the greeting is awesome. Thank you for playing along with us at The Color Throwdown.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the contrast of the sponged section against the card's crisp white. Thanks for joining us at the Color Throwdown!

Your cards are really beautiful and I love what you do with paper, ink and stamps!!!! And one can clearly see that you THINK before you INK, before you STAMP, as your cards are all so perfectly made!!!
Have a great day!!!!
