CAS(E) This Sketch 287 Meets Fusion

This week the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and the inspiration at Fusion were a simple match!  My card for both is bright, cheery, and a bit wonderful if I do say so myself!

Although I do wish I had balanced my daisies a bit more.  Big daisy on top and small on bottom looks a bit wrong to my eye.  But by the time I put this together the glue had set and this baby was not coming apart!  It's pretty, though and no sentiment means I can use this for just about anything!

There are a couple of fabulous challenges going on at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion so I hope that you have some time to play along with us!

Supplies
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories:  Gerbera Daisy die (My Favorite Things)

Freshly Made Sketches 352

Hello!  It's  time for a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!   This week our sketch is designed by Jen Timko.  A instant classic for sure!

My card was inspired by the inspiration challenge at Just Us Girls.  They've got a back to school vibe going on and I focused on the big alphabet on the wall which put me in mind of this stamp set I've had of the Periodic Table of Elements.  So I colored up a scientist and added some of those elements which "spelled" out a birthday!  Fun!

Our Freshly Made Sketches design team has created some fabulous card with this sketch so be sure to check them out!  We'd love to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 286

We've got an awesome new sketch for you at CAS(E) This Sketch.  It looks super simple but sometimes those are the ones that are tricky!

This card did not turn out exactly how I planned!  I wanted to stamp the triangles so that they were a soft background then stamp the sentiment in a bold color over those triangles.  But somewhere along the line the sentiment creeped up on the card front and the triangles got more colorful.  #cardmakingproblems. The colors of my card were inspired by the challenge at Sunday Stamps.

My CAS(E) This Sketch teamies had NO trouble with this sketch as you will see.  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Sohcahtoa (Altenew); Dahlia Turnabout (Concord & 9th)
Paper:  White (Spectrum Noir)
Ink:  Autumn Blaze, Parisian Blue, Sapphire (Altenew)

We've got a brand new super sweet sketch for you today at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is Amy and I love the simplicity of her sketch.

I actually got a little ahead of myself when I made this card a week ago.  I got the sketches mixed up and thought that this was last weeks sketch!  Consequently, a couple of other challenges that I made this card for - colors at one and butterflies at another - have since closed!  Oh well!  It's pretty anyway!

The Freshly Made Sketches design team has created some beautiful cards with this sketch so be sure to check them out and play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 285 Meets Fusion

My card today, which combines the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration at Fusion was a doozy for me!  Many years ago I tried my hand at a galaxy technique which made a fun background that looked like a long view into space.  I forgot how I did it so I resorted to Google to help me out!

I found a video from Jennifer McGuire using Distress Oxide inks that seemed pretty easy.  So I embarked on my galaxy adventure using her technique.  Lessons learned include using WAY less PearlEx in my spritz bottle and probably going a bit easier on the Black Soot ink so that some of the colorful ink underneath shows up.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you play along with our sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.  But I hope you also play along with us at Fusion.  There you can use the sketch, the inspiration, or both for your card!

CAS(E) This Sketch 284

Our latest sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch is a retro one all the way back to #76.  I love these redux challenges.  Comparing what I did then versus now is eye-opening sometimes!

The original challenge for this sketch debuted HERE and I found that I played along with that sketch HERE.  What a difference four years makes!

For this sketch I used a paint drip & splatter image as a background and then covered it with a fun sentiment.  I used a row of stars along the bottom to mimic where (I think) the sentiment is supposed to go.  Easy peasy!  I'm also adding this to the "masculine" challenge at Addicted to CAS.  Just about anytime I make a card sans flowers I call it masculine!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you join us in our CAS(E) This Sketch gallery this week!

Supplies
Stamps:  Splatdrip (Tim Holtz); Shiny Happy Sentiments (Lil Inker Designs); Star Scribbles (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Lime Rickey (Catherine Pooler);

Freshly Made Sketches 349

It's Wednesday so it's time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week Karren is our hostess and her sketch is classic!

I had SO much trouble with this sketch!  All that wide open space had me stumped until I saw the current challenge at Muse. I liked how Anita framed her card with floral images so I attempted to recreate that with these lilies.  The vertical layer was done with vellum.  I'm not crazy about this card.  The lilies look a bit like fireworks to me!

My Freshly Made Sketches teammates have made some fantastic cards with this sketch so be sure to check them out.  We hope to see you in the gallery!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Stamps:  Layered Lily (Altenew); Celebrate Big (My Favorite Things)
Paper:  White (Gina K); Vellum (Stampin' Up!)s
Ink:  Jet Black (Stazon); Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Grapevine (Altenew)
Accessories:  rhinestones (KaiserCraft)

CAS(E) This Sketch 283 Meets Fusion

Every other Thursday I combine the latest challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch with the latest challenge at Fusion.  This time around it was the flowers that inspired me and the sketch was perfect to show some off!

I was intrigued, also, by some of the design elements at the Just Us Girls challenge like the script background and the floral accents.  So I used a script stamp to create one of the "layers" on my card and followed it up with leaves, a branch, and some flowers.  Easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can join us at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion, or both!

Freshly Made Sketches 348

Hello there!  I've got a card for our newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is designed by Jen Brum - and it's awesome!

One thing that I like to do when I see four squares arranged like this is to create one image and then split it up.  So that's what I did!  I used a distressed sunburst stencil and covered it with embossing paste that I tinted yellow.  I cut it into four squares and mounted them with a little bit of space in between to mimic the sketch.  CAS and done!

The color challenge at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge is a particular favorite of mine so those colors were my choice for this sunshiny card!

ETA:  And by lucky coincidence the cue word this week at CASology is Sunbeam!  Since I made my card a few days before that challenge went live I can only think that the challenge was cosmically transmitted to me!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  Our Freshly Made Sketches design team has created some beauties with this sketch so be sure to check them out.  We hope to see you in the gallery!
