I'm officially in Christmas card mode. Especially since it's the middle of November and I'm pretty sure that I don't have enough Christmas cards made for this season. I'm afraid to count how many I have because I don't want to panic if I have way less than I need! But Freshly Made Sketches to the rescue. This week our sketch is brought to us by Jen Timko.
As you can see I flipped the sketch on its side and took advantage of all that white space to use up some ancient Stampin' Up! designer paper that I had in my stash. By the time I put this together I wasn't happy with all that blank space so I cut out a star in some shimmery paper and stuck it to the middle of that space. The designer paper used colors like old olive, chocolate chip, and real red so that was my inspiration for this color combo. A little eclectic, but I like it.
There's an anything goes challenge going on at Retro Rubber and this card qualifies on so many levels. I know they are only interested in aged stamp sets but I've got to share that while the stamp set I used is over a year old as well as the die cut peace sentiment, that designer paper is the real story here. It's so old I don't remember how long I've had it. I'm going to guess eighth or nine years at least! Can you say hoarder?
As usual our Freshly Made Sketches design team has cooked up some wonderful cards to inspire you. I hope you have some time this week to join us in the gallery!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello fellow hoarder! I think I have the brown and green patterned papers in my stash too, lol!! See, you're not the only one! What a great card, and it looks easy enough to replicate, and who knows...you might use up all of these papers in the process! This is really a sweet Christmas card. I really do like it! That star was a brilliant idea, too!! : ) Bev
ReplyDeleteOh boy am I ever behind on Christmas cards!! But look at you go, you have another fabulous one to add to your collection!
ReplyDeleteClever girl! Flipping the sketch was a perfect way to use the die cut sentiment! And I actually bought some Christmas cards today!
ReplyDeleteThe sketch looks great flipped like that. Hoarder? Funny how DSP goes from the 'You're too pretty to use' phase to 'how long have I had you lurking here?!' Thank you for joining us at Retro Rubber, Jen.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas Cards are always done and dusted by November 1st, it's a rule I have, I make them from Aug 1st to Nov 1st and if I am short a few, then I just add in a few more. I never count until Nov 1st! Hoarding is part of crafting right? I really like your elegant Christmas card and the sketch works so well flipped. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber this time. ReplyDeleteWhat a great use of the sketch and of your "hoarded" paper. Isn't it great to use something that you knew you would have a need for some day in the future! Thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber.
ReplyDeleteLOL, true confession time, I have paper that old too! Great little Christmas card, glad you put all your "vintage" goodies to use! Thanks for sharing this with us at Retro Rubber this week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card Jen! Love how you've turned the sketch on it's side! Very creative! I love that paper and think I have some still hiding out here!!! Such a great sentiment too!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the sentiment on this card. A clever way to use the sketch, and a great way to use up some of that dsp.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of this paper too! Gorgeous card, Jen! I counted up my Christmas cards yesterday and about 15 short :(
