CAS(E) This Sketch 370 Meets Fusion

Hey there! It's time for me to combine the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration at Fusion.  I almost got it right...once I had the card made, photographed, and edited I realized that I put the sentiment - per the sketch - in the wrong place.  And I mean completely the wrong place.

I think I was so excited that I managed to cut layers in those particular shapes for the sketch that I just glued down the sentiment in that big blank space in the center, without regard to where it was supposed to go.  By the time I realized what I did it was too late to change it so I'm posting it anyway - with apologies to my CAS(E) This Sketch teammates.  The colors I chose were inspired by the colors and sentiment of the Fusion challenge and the die cut sentiment is a nod to the "use your die cut words" challenge at TGIF.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper:  Pure Ivory (Gina K); Black Licorice (My Favorite Things); Pure Poppy, Everyday Enchantment DSP (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 433

It's my week to be the hostess at Freshly Made Sketches and I decided to go with a bit of an abstract design.  Week after week it always amazes me how you all interpret our sketches so I thought it would be fun to see what you would do with a big ambiguous blob!

It's a coincidence that the latest challenge at Less is More is to use scribbles, drips, or splats but I embrace all coincidences like that as an invitation that I must play along so I grabbed one of my favorite splat stamps, added a small butterfly, a few enamel dots, and a slim sentiment.  I chose all shades of blue so I could play along with the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  My Freshly Made Sketches teammates have taken my sketch and created gold with it!  So I hope you are inspired to play along!

Supplies
Stamps:  Ink Splats (IndigoBlu); Kinda Eclectic (Stampin' Up!); Tiny Words (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Blueberry Sky, Dark Indigo (Papertrey Ink); Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  Basic Pearls (Stampin' Up!); enamel dots (My Mind's Eye)

CAS(E) This Sketch 369

I am finally getting around to posting my card for CAS(E) This Sketch!  This week has been a doozey and I've been behind on just about everything.  Even though I managed to squeeze in some time to make a card for the challenge I just had no time to actually post it here.  The sketch is actually a retro one and goes all the way back to #140 which debuted on September 10, 2015.

This sketch had me stymied for a bit 😳even though I played along with it all those years ago and apparently had no trouble with it then!  I made a card last Sunday but wasn't at all happy with it.  So I scrapped it in favor of one using the colors from the Global Design Project challenge.  I used some stamps that haven't seen ink in a long time to make an abstract design and added a fun sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you are safe and healthy!

Supplies
Stamps:  Watercolor Wonder (Papertrey Ink); True Colors (The Alley Way Stamps); Halftone Circles (Altenew)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Mint Julep (Papertrey Ink); Night of Navy, Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 432

I'm more than a bit late with my Freshly Made Sketches post this week.  Work is crazy and I just had no time to post this in time for the sketch reveal.  But I believe in the "better late than never" mantra so I humbly present my card. This week our sketch hostess is Jen Timko.

I had no specific idea for this sketch when I sat down to make this card.  That open circle actually threw me for a bit of a loop.  Then out of the blue I got an idea to do a hanging monkey.  I have no idea where the idea came from but I thought it was a good one so I ran with it.

I bought a monkey SVG cutting file from Etsy and after cutting it out twined the monkey's tail around a dotted circle that I cut from some long under-used dies.  For the horizontal line in the sketch I improvised and used a wavy-dotted border die.  It's subtle, but I like it!

The cue word at Addicted to CAS is "animal" and when I first saw the challenge I thought there was no way I was going to be able to play along since I rarely put animals on my cards.  But then this little monkey mysteriously worked its way into my life and ta-da here I am!

Thanks for stopping by.  And special thanks to my fellow design team members at Freshly Made Sketches who have graciously put up with my tardiness in posting.  You guys are the best! 💖

CAS(E) This Sketch 368 Meets Fusion

Hey there!  It's that Thursday when I get to combine the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration at Fusion.  The inspiration at Fusion commemorates ANZAC Day which marks the first military action by Australia and New Zealand during World War I.  Poppies are a traditional image for Veterans so my card features some.

Originally, I was going to be creative with those three squares on the sketch and do some double layer pop ups of those poppies on my card but it proved to be too much work for my tired brain to do so I improvised by sticking down three vellum squares over the poppies.  Vellum to the rescue!

Thanks for stopping by!  And if you want something to do whilst on a coronacation then join us at CAS(E) This Sketch or Fusion - or both!

Supplies
Stamps:  Botanical Silhouettes (Papertrey Ink); Keep It Simple Sympathy (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  Naturals White (Neenah); Vellum (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink); Nocturne (Versafine Clair); Onyx Black (Versafine)

Freshly Made Sketches 431

Hi all!  It's time for a brand new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is brought to you by Lee Ann.  The sketch is a rectangle but I decided to do a square instead. 😊

I had this stamped image floating around on my desk for weeks.  It was a leftover from another project and too pretty to throw away.  So I was happy to finally put it to good use.  At Just Us Girls they are looking for square projects so I adapted this image by trimming it just so, then backing it with a purple layer.  I did the slim horizontal layer in vellum and embossed a Christmas sentiment in black on it.  This may have been the quickest card I have ever made!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  My friends at Freshly Made Sketches have got some great cards to inspire you this week so be sure to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Wreath Turnabout (Concord & 9th); Joy Stamp (The Stamp Market)
Paper:   Solar White (Neenah); Royal Velvet, Vellum (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Persian Blue, Ultravioletl (Altenew); Tropical Teal (Stampin' Up!); Silvery Shimmer (Delicata)' Onyx Black (Versafine)

CAS(E) This Sketch 367

We've got a great new sketch for you at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I love the banners on this one!

The texture challenge at Addicted to CAS had me reaching for some burlap and the feather challenge at Just Us Girls had me embossing this great feather image onto vellum.

I used this "how are you sentiment" because it just feels like the right question to ask during this difficult time. And I like to imagine that the feather has floated down and landed so gently on my little burlap strips.

Thanks for stopping by! Please join us at CAS(E) This Sketch with your version of our sketch!

Supplies
Stamps:  Feather Finery (Papertrey Ink); Hello Hello (The Stamp Market)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Burlap
Ink:  Versamark; Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  First Place Ribbon die (My Favorite Things); Opaque Bright White embossing powder, Rose Gold embossing powder (WOW)

Freshly Made Sketches 430

Hey all.  I hope that you are all healthy and safe.  I'm grateful that I'm able to escape into my stamp room once in a while to make something that (I hope) is pretty and gives me a chance to forget that the world has turned upside down.  To that end my friends at Freshly Made Sketches want to help inspire you to create along with us.  We've got a new challenge debuting today and Jacquie is our hostess.

I substituted that diamond for an oval and did some kind of inverse stamping technique that I'm sure has a name but I have no idea what it is!  I basically stamped the floral image onto two pieces of card stock, then cut an oval out of one of them, then layered the one with the missing oval over the other layer, and popped it up on foam tape so the other images show through.  I'm sure that makes no sense but if you click on the image I'm sure you'll get the gist!

I wanted to do a floral image because I just got this stamp set that has been on my wish list for a while plus the challenge at Challenge Up Your Life is to use flowers.  I love it when two ideas come together!

This card is going to my Mom.  Even though we talk on the phone all the time it's been weeks since I've seen her in person.  I know she loves to get a card in the mail so hopefully this will put a smile on her face.  I know she's bored silly - watching movies all day long can only go so far - so I email her the crossword from the daily newspaper every day.  What a strange world we live in now!

Stay safe everyone. We'll get through this together.

Supplies
Stamps:  Floral Art (Altenew); Tiny Words (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Pretty in Pink (Stampin' Up!); Coral Berry, Grapevine, Fresh Leaf, Jet Black (Altenew)
Accessories:  Oval Stax 2 die (My Favorite Things)

CAS(E) This Sketch 366 Meets Fusion

It's that time again when I get to combine the challenges from CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion into one card.  This time around I had some layers and a fun Easter gnome to play with.

Those gnomes are so cute with their bunny ears, but I didn't find anything in my stash that I could use to approximate those ears so I had to satisfy myself by making a "regular" gnome in soft pastel colors with some polka dots thrown in for good measure.  The soft colors at Cupcake Inspirations inspired my color choices.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please play along with us at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion!

Freshly Made Sketches 429

If you love circles you will love our new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I took those circle into overdrive with my card!

Although I do love square cards I went with a rectangular design for my card to accommodate this sketchy ring die.  I used colors inspired by the challenge at Fab Friday and picked this sentiment because I know many people who are feeling overwhelmed right about now and thought a little reminder that we are strong and we'll get through this crisis might bring a smile to someone's face.

Thanks for stopping by!  Check out the inspiration from my fellow design team members at Freshly Made Sketches and join us in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Daffodil Delight, Marigold Morning, Pumpkin Pie (Stampin' Up!); Watercolor Wash Brights (My Favorite Things)
Ink:  Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  Sketchy Rings die (Memory Box)
