Freshly Made Sketches 594

It's Wednesday so that means there's a great new sketch challenge for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is Narelle and those circles put me in mind of these fun (and new to me) fireworks images.

I bought the matching die for these stamps and I've got to say that trying to match up the die with the stamped image was very challenging.  I think the key might be to cut out each die cut onto plain paper and then use that as a registration mark on the stamped image.  I realized this, of course, after many attempts to line up the die with the image, and a few choice words when it wasn't working!

But in the end I'm happy with the result and thanks to Sunday Stamps Challenge for the colors!

Thanks for stopping by!  My Freshly Made Sketches teammates have some creative cards to inspire you to play along with us, too, so be sure to check them out!

Freshly Made Sketches 549

So we've got a fabulous new sketch for you from Freshly Made Sketches. Our hostess this week is Jen Timko.  Her design is CAS so I chose honor that with my card.

I changed my layout to a square card and stamped a bright shining star in the center.  The sentiment finished the look perfectly!  My colors were inspired by the challenge at Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches teammates have made some fantastic cards with this sketch, so be sure to check them out!

Fusion - It's a New Year

I think the new year has me off to a rough creative start.  I took a little hiatus from stamping the last couple of weeks and jumped in with two feet for our first Fusion challenge of the year.  I loved the bokeh design of the inspiration photo and decided to make my card by combining the bokeh with the sketch and the colors from another challenge.  But the colors ended up being way off to join the color challenge so... this is what I've got.

I sponged the colors on to my cardstock then used a bokeh stencil to add those little highlights in white. I substituted a couple of sparkly stars for the two circles on the sketch and stamped the sentiment to mimic the horizontal layer on the sketch.  You may notice that the top of the "S" on the "Stars" sentiment is missing.  Just my luck I got a bad stamp with an incomplete piece. 😕

I think this card is pretty cute anyway and I hope you think so too.  I thank you for stopping by!  Be sure to check out my fellow Fusion teammates for our first challenge of 2022!

Freshly Made Sketches 516

It's our last sketch challenge of the year at Freshly Made Sketches!  It's been so much fun creating alongside my FMS design team members this past year, not to mention all of you who joined us along the way.  I'm sure that one or two of you who made a card with one of our sketches inspired me to buy a stamp or a die or two, or three over the course of the year.  And for that alone I thank you.  But I also thank you for joining us week after week.  We wouldn't be here without you. 💖Our challenge this week is designed by Narelle and I surprised myself with another Christmas card.

I took some poetic license with the circles on the sketch and used stars instead.  I strung some gold cord from them to the top of the card to mimic hanging ornaments.  Then I tucked a sentiment in between the stars and embossed it in gold.  And to create a little contrast I sponged some ink in an arc around the left side of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!  Our Freshly Made Sketches challenge will be open until January 3rd so I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Fusion - Mother's Day

Our new challenge at Fusion is inspired by Mother's Day so I decided to make a Mother's Day card but I took a little poetic license.  I've got a niece expecting a baby girl in June, and though she doesn't know exactly when her mother's day will be, it will definitely be!  So this card is for her!

It's a girl so, of course, I incorporated some pink then threw in some polka dots and pink sequins as well.  It's so cute!  I was lucky to combine both the inspiration and the sketch at Fusion.  Maybe you will too?

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 303

We've got a retro sketch for you this week at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I have to admit the card that I made the first time around for this sketch was not one my favorites, so as I was contemplating my redux (over several days I might add) thoughts of that card were haunting me and thwarting new ideas.  But simultaneously I was also plotting and planning a giant head start on my 2019 Christmas card stash and had some cards pinned that I was going to CASE.  One of those cards inspired this card.  So using a brand new set I set to work.

I just love this Santa!  He comes with multiple facial expressions but I think this angry one is my favorite.  That look is especially great with these naughty and nice sentiments!

At CASology the cue word for their first challenge of 2019 is Fresh.  That words means many things to me as I start 2019.  It's a fresh perspective on my card designs, a fresh desire to try new things, and as for this card a sincere, fresh desire to use stamps sets that I've had and have remained un-inked for a while!  I have a few other fresh ideas that I want to accomplish in 2019 but they will remain silent for now.  I have found, oddly, that once I mention something here on my blog that I want to accomplish the exact opposite happens.  I think I jinx myself!  So in order to preserve my goals, they will remain close to my heart for now!

So how will our CAS(E) This Sketch inspire you?  Our design team has created some fantastic cards so you can check them out for ideas.  I highly recommend that you do and then join us in the gallery!

CAS(E) This Sketch 284

Our latest sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch is a retro one all the way back to #76.  I love these redux challenges.  Comparing what I did then versus now is eye-opening sometimes!

The original challenge for this sketch debuted HERE and I found that I played along with that sketch HERE.  What a difference four years makes!

For this sketch I used a paint drip & splatter image as a background and then covered it with a fun sentiment.  I used a row of stars along the bottom to mimic where (I think) the sentiment is supposed to go.  Easy peasy!  I'm also adding this to the "masculine" challenge at Addicted to CAS.  Just about anytime I make a card sans flowers I call it masculine!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you join us in our CAS(E) This Sketch gallery this week!

Supplies
Stamps:  Splatdrip (Tim Holtz); Shiny Happy Sentiments (Lil Inker Designs); Star Scribbles (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Lime Rickey (Catherine Pooler);

You're the Star

These days posting on a Monday is a rarity for me!  I don't seem to have as much time for stamping as I used to (or as I'd like) but I had some extra time yesterday so I put myself to good use in my stamp room.  The combination of a couple of cool challenges plus some new stamping goodies that I recently got provided sufficient inspiration!

I took a few liberties with the sketch at Fusion but you get the basic idea!  I combined the layout with the very cool colors at Color Throwdown.  This is my first time inking up the new Lemon Lime Twist from SU.  It's bright!  I love how the super hero style starburst looks inked up in it and the black sentiment provides awesome contrast.

I think we're in for a spot of rain today which means no walking for me on my lunch hour.  We've had plenty of rain this summer so enough already!  Maybe since we've had such a wet summer we'll get no snow this winter...A girl can dream!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Stamps:  Explosion! Additions (Uniko); Shiny Happy Sentiments (Lil' Inker Designs)
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Lemon Lime Twist (Stampin' Up!); White (Catherine Pooler)
Ink:  Lemon Lime Twist (Stampin' Up!); Jet Black (Altenew)
Accessories:  Stitched Basic Edges die (My Favorite Things); Enamel Dew Drops (Freckled Fawn)

Freshly Made Sketches 296

This week our lovely challenge at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to you by Jen Timko.  The sketch is square but I used a little poetic license and created a rectangular card.

The colors for my card come from the latest challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.  As I was putting this card together I wondered how a red butterfly would look and I'm happy to say that I like it!  I layered the swiss cheese butterfly top over a vellum bottom and jazzed up the background with some sparkle medium speckles in a champagne color.  I finished off the corner with some Nuvo Crystal drops in place of a paper layer.

My Freshly Made Sketches teamies have put together some great cards to inspire you to join us this week.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Seriously

I popped into my stamp room Saturday night to make a card using the fabbo color combo at Color Throwdown and the layout at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I love the bokeh images on the sketch and dug out a favorite dotted stamp set from PTI set to use for my images, plus I got some new goodies from Lil' Inker that I wanted to try out.

The card was done, and I was just getting ready to get it set up to take a pic of it when I decided to stamp the back of it with a fun sentiment.  The card was laying face up on my desk and I lost my handle on the ink pad and I'm sure you can guess what happened.  This.

Yep.  I dropped the ink pad on it and left a big old smudge.  But all things happen for a reason and I actually like my redux better.  I stamped the dots in a bit of a tighter circle, which I like better than the first.  I think karma was doing me a favor in this case!

Thanks for stopping by!
