CAS(E) This Sketch 269 Meets Fusion

All the stars aligned for my card this week for CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion.   I loved the colors of the Fusion inspiration and the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch was perfect for a brand new stamp set that I got last week!  So combine them all I did.  Take a look:

And if those two challenges weren't enough at House of Cards they want a floral corner, CAS on Friday is looking for black, white, and pink and Where Creativity Meets C9 it's all about spring!   My new turnabout stamp fits in the corner just so and the pink colors say spring to me!  I incorporated several shades of pink plush a dash of silver to make this extra special.  It is a Mother's Day card after all!

Thanks for stopping by!  We'd love it if you joined us at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion.  My fellow design teammates have made some GORGEOUS cards to inspire you to play along with us!

CAS(E) This Sketch 247

Hello!  It's time for a new sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.  The sketch calls to mind lots of layers so I made my card with lots of layers of leaves!

Those leaves are holiday pines (and some other stuff).  I chose them so I could play along with the current challenge at The Paper Players.  And the holiday theme fits perfectly with the challenge at House of Cards.

I've tried to get some new holiday stamp sets this year because I've been getting a bit bored with the ones I've had in my stash forever.  The sentiment I've used here is one of those new sets.  It's fun to see the new designs so hopefully my cards this year will be a little more fun!  We'll see.....

Thanks for stopping by!  Our CAS(E) This Sketch design team has got some fabulous cards to show you this week to inspire you so be sure to check them out.  We hope you'll join us in the gallery!

CAS(E) This Sketch 242

A quick look at the calendar tells me that Halloween is not that far away so I thought it was time for me to break out my all-time favorite stamp set for the occasion.  Lucky for me the latest CAS(E) This Sketch designed by Leigh was very accomodating for my Herman Munster-style image.

The Halloween colors at House of Cards put me in the mood and good ol' Herman and his love of bats set the stage for this one.  I just love this guy!

By the way, I fussy cut this guy out.  This stamp set is so old the only dies that co-existed with him were simple shapes we called Nestabilities!  Oh how times have changed!

My CAS(E) This Sketch teamies have created some fabulous cards for you to see with this sketch so be sure to check them out.  I hope you can join us in the gallery!  Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches 283

It's time for a brand new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is designed by Jen Brum and it's got a very cool wavy line, which could be an ocean wave or a view of a landscape or really anything you can dream of.  My imagination lead me to a very boring slanted line!

Now, I do actually own a set of wavy lines dies but I could not find them anywhere in my stash.  I think they ran away with a particular "thanks" die that has also gone missing.  I didn't trust myself to try and cut a wavy line free-hand so I just cut a couple of pieces of contrasting card stock on a diagonal.  I used an embossing plate on the top one to give it a bit of texture.  Then borrowing the feather theme and colors from the April challenge at House of Cards I stamped, embossed, and fussy cut these beautiful feathers from vellum.  The color of the biggest feather is hard to see.  I stamped it in the same color as the darker diagonal layer them embossed it with clear embossing powder, which tends to wash out the color.  Luckily I had some Pool Party embossing powder, which I used on the smaller feather, so that one has a nice rich color.

Our Freshly Made Sketches design team has got some great cards to show you with this sketch to be sure to check them out.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

With Sympathy

Today I'm posting a card that I made for a couple of challenges.  I loved the colors at House of Cards and I thought I could pair them with the sketch at Sketch Saturday.

I started layering colors on in a way that looked pleasing to me without really having an idea of how I was going to fill that focal layer on top.  Once I had the colors done I poked around in my stash of dies for something interesting and I chose these leafy ones.  The colors seemed a little moody to me so I chose to make this a sympathy card.

I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo but I stamped that top layer with a really old background stamp that I dug out from my stash.  It's funny how everything old is new again, isn't it?  I've got quite a few of these big background stamps and I never purged them from my stash because I really like them and I just knew that I'd use them again, even if only occasionally.  And look, I was right!

We had our first snowstorm here in Massachusetts over the weekend.  I think I got about a foot of the light fluffy stuff.  And in a few days it's supposed to be 50 degrees.  Go figure!

Thanks for stopping by!
