The sketch says square but making a square card is not necessary to play along. I just happen to like square cards! I think I must be the only one who likes them because it's been a long time since we've featured one at Freshly Made Sketches and I think it was one of mine!
I based the sketch on a card that I had made a couple of years ago. That card used these colors also so I had them on my mind when I made this one. I happen to love So Saffron and if Stampin' Up! ever retires it I will be really mad! As mad as I was when they retired Baja Breeze!
There's a challenge this week at Crazy For Challenges to make a card of encouragement. Apparently, July 11th is "Cheer Up the Lonely Day" so they've coordinated their challenge around that. I used a sentiment from Verve and this particular set is full of encouraging phrases and a few of them are arranged in this subway style. Those are perfect for fitting on a decorative banner like the label die I used.
Well, I hope you enjoy my sketch and get a chance to play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches. Our always-amazing design team has made some beautiful cards with it so be sure to pop on over there, if you haven't already, to see their inspiration. I hope you can join us in the gallery!

Oopsies, Jen, I TOTALLY missed the square card part of the challenge, lol. I love the colors you've chosen and the sentiment is a definite inspiration! Perfect card, perfect accents!!
Thanks so much for this super sketch Jen ! I love square cards too ! By the way, the card I made for challenge #242 (my first challenge as a guest designer at FMS) was square ! Your card is fabulous, so elegant. Love those gorgeous colors and pretty papers.
No need to be nervous Jen, this card is gorgeous!! Love your colors and patterns. Fabulous card!
I totally agree with you on So Saffron (and Baja Breeze for that matter). And I love the card! That sentiment is perfect for the sketch, and I love the square sketch -- I need to make more square cards. Beautifully done, Jen!
Fabulous sketch and a fabulous card! I was glad to have a square card as a sketch because I never think to make them, even though I love square cards! Your color combo on this card is gorgeous and that sentiment is perfect.
Go ahead and give those nerves a rest. This turned out just beautifully. I always forget to use gray and yellow together, and I shouldn't; they're two of my favorite colors. I just love what you've done here, and you've got the wheels turning in my head now! Might have to see if I have time between DH chores to play along. Totally love this card!!! Stay cool. Bev
Such beautiful, subtle colors - just right for the simple patterns. And a perfect backdrop for the sentiment!
Love your sketch and love your beautiful card, Jen!!!! That is such a great sentiment and I really like the papers you used for the bg!!! Hope I'm going to have a chance to play along - I love square cards!!!!

I love a good square sketch - it feels like ages since I made one! Your card is just fabulous and I love the sentiment you've used. I agree with Jen, I need a lesson making my thread look like yours.
What a fabulous card! Love the colors and that little nest of twine you put behind your focal panel!
