FEEE Auction

I've been meaning to post this for quite a while. I donated this basket and all the goodies to the Foundation for Excellence in Education in Easton (FEEE) fundraising auction. It included eight cards, some treat boxes filled with chocolates, a note pad, and my favorite: the scrapbook purse (that I totally cased from Jan Tink). I had a lot of fun making it.

Happy Easter everyone! I took a break from cooking sweet potatoes to post this picture. We are off to my mother-in-laws for Easter today (I just love when someone else hosts the holiday dinner), and I was afraid that if I didn't post this morning, I never would. This card is for the Stamps, Paper Glitter! sketch challenge and Christina Werner's Color Inspiration challenge. I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to make all those colors come together, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Have a great day!

Stamps, Paper, Glitter! Sketch Challenge #6

I dug out some old favorites to make this card. I used River Rock for the card base then made the vertical columns from Ruby Red and Ginger Blossom DSP. The stamp set is Embrace Life. I don't mind admitting that wrapping that string around the paper was a pain in the @%!*. But I think it came out okay, otherwise. This card is for the Stamps, Paper, Glitter! sketch challenge.

Just Under the Wire

Better late than never, I always say! This is my card for Kerin Sylvester's sketch challenge. This is the first time I've tried the Texturz plates and I LOVE them. I had a feeling I was going to, and I was right!! I've been kicking around this idea of a really simple card using just a few colors and a white background. This version is not my original idea, but I like it all the same. I added the 1/4" circles to the ribbon because it looked rather bare without them.

Kerin's Sketch Challenge

I did this card for Kerin Sylvester's sketch challenge (find it here). I saw a gift bag when I was in Marshall's the other day and that was my inspiration for this card. I used Going Gray, Basic Black and Basic Gray cardstock. I stamped the Fifth Avenue Floral Images in Basic Black and Basic Gray. The bottom images are embossed in white. The Baja Blue flower is popped on dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black.

Inspired by Nature

I just love the Inspired by Nature stamp set. I've seen so many beautiful cards on SCS using it so I thought I'd try one. To me it really seems like the grass is gently blowing in the breeze. I used Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the grass in Kiwi Kiss, then used markers to color in the daisies with Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive. This card reminds me of looking through a hole in a fence to the beautiful flowers on the other side.

My New Light Box

Last week's SCS Weekling Inkling had a thread on photography light tents and how they really help to showcase your photos. So I read the thread and checked out the links in it and then decided that I could make one on my own rather inexpensively. I basically followed the instructions of this DIY website, but I made mine from that 1/4" thick foam posterboard you can get at craft stores. I used non-fusible fabric interfacing on the sides and top, then put a long piece of posterboard inside so that it created a gentle curve at the seam. I think this makes it look nicer than seeing the seam of the posterboard. I taped the box together with clear packing tape. I light the sides with desk lamps and use my Bell & Howell floor lamp to light the top. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There are some relatively inexpensive fabric light tents for sale on eBay and the thread on SCS had another one, and the advantage of those is that they are collapsible. I would say this one cost me just under $10 and for now it's perfect for my needs.
