CAS(E) This Sketch 361

Happy Thursday!  It's time for a new sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch!  I've been in a Mardi Gras mood the last few days so I was inspired to make a colorful card.

The color challenge at Sunday Stamps was all about Mardi Gras so I jumped on board.  I created some subtle texture on the top part of my card with an impression plate, wrapped gold cord a bunch of times around the bottom-ish to make that second horizontal layer, then added a bright spray of colors.  Let's party!

Thanks for stopping by!  We've got some great inspiration for you at CAS(E) This Sketcr4345 so be sure to check us out.

Freshly Made Sketches 424

Hello!  We've got another great challenge for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is Jen Brum and she really got me thinking about that flag....

Luckily I had a fun stamp in my stash that approximated the look of that flag.  So armed with some purple inks (I have a sister who is crazy about purple) I inked the flag, some flowers, and some leaves in varying shades of purple.  Cute!  I hope that Jen forgives me for the placement of my flowers and leaves (the circle on the sketch) - they are a little off per the sketch!

My purple-loving sister will get this card in the mail soon!  And the inspiration for the purple came from the latest challenge at Color Dare.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow teammates at Freshly Made Sketches have made some lookers this week so be sure to check them out. 😀See you in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Brushed Off, Keep It Simple Just a Note (Papertrey Ink); Summer Silhouettes (Stampin' Up!)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)

CAS(E) This Sketch 360 Meets Fusion

Every couple of weeks I get to stretch my brain and combine the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration challenge at Fusion.  This time around I chose to go with the moody, masculine colors from the Fusion challenge and created a card with a leafy background that mimics the design at CAS(E) This Sketch.

And at Less is More they are looking for "more," the antithesis of their "less" challenge from a couple of weeks ago.  So I made my card to have a few elements - some might say more - while still keeping a CAS design.

Thanks for stopping by! My teammates at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion have made some fantastic cards to inspire you to play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps:  Leaf Clusters (Altenew); Scripty Sayings 2 (Gina K Designs)
Paper:  Whisper White
Ink:  Sand Dunes, Mocha (Altenew); Smokey Shadow (Papertrey Ink); Nocturne (Versafine Clair)

Freshly Made Sketches 423

Hello all!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is Kim and her sketch has a big ol' circle on it that had me pondering...

I was pretty sure that I wanted to use the colors at Just Us Girls on my card but couldn't quite decide on a design.  I made a couple of cards after wandering around my craft room randomly picking up stamps and dies that had a circular shape but wasn't happy with any of them.  And then I stumbled on a grungy circle stamp and figured I could add a sweet little flower some dramatic black leaves and I'd have a pretty card.  I was right!

I didn't want my grungy circle to be the star of my card so I inked up the stamp with black ink then stamped it off onto a piece of paper before pressing it on to my card base.  This gave it a bit of a faded look which is just what I wanted.  Then I added the real star - a little layered daisy and some black leaves (love how those give this a bit of drama)!

Thanks for stopping by!  Please join us at Freshly Made Sketches for our latest sketch!

CAS(E) This Sketch 359

Hello there!  It's time for a "new" challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch!  This week we are going retro all the way back to sketch #7 which debuted nearly eight years ago - November 12, 2012 to be exact.  I did play along with that sketch all those years ago making a Christmas card.  This time around I went in a different direction.

The OMBRE challenge at Addicted to CAS had me digging through my stash of patterned paper because I was sure I had some ready-made paper that fit the bill.  I found one in shades of blue fading to greenish-blue and cut it to fit the vertical layer on the sketch.  I punched a few circles in a complementary color to make the scalloped detail then added a small sentiment and I was done.  Easy peasy cards are the best!

Thanks for stopping by!  At CAS(E) This Sketch my fellow teammies have made some fabulous cards to inspire you to play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps:  #hashtags (Tim Holtz)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Tropical Teal (Papertrey Ink); Adorbs (My Mind's Eye)

Freshly Made Sketches 422

I've been bitten with the Valentine bug lately so my card this week for Freshly Made Sketchefeatures a little heart.  Linda is our hostess this week and I got a little creative with one of the layers on her sketch.

The larger vertical background layer had me reaching for some striped patterned paper from a valentine set that I won many years ago.  I wrapped some crochet thread around it three times but opted not to tie a bow (per the sketch) because my bows are often horrible!

When I made the smaller vertical layer I opted to connect a series of squares instead of making one long rectangle.  I think the little heart in the center says sit all:  Hey there Valentine!  The colors of my card were inspired by the latest challenge at The Paper Players and those stripes are for the Just Us Girls challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches teammates have all whipped up some fabulous cards for this sketch to inspire you to play along with us.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Supplies
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Black Licorice (My Favorite Things); Strawberry Slush, Real Red (Stampin' Up!); You & Me (Elle's Studio)
Accessories:  crochet thread; stitched heart die

Freshly Made Sketches 421

Hello everyone!  Today we've got a brand new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  I'm the hostess and although I think the sketch is quite classic, when it came time for me to make my card I had some trouble with it!

It's a strange phenomenon that the sketch designer has the most trouble with her own sketch!  I actually went through a couple of iterations when I sat at my desk to make my card - none of which I was happy with.  Then at the last minute I remembered that when I'm having the most trouble I can always rely on a poinsettia to solve my problems!  So I stamped a grid background stamp to represent the square element of the sketch then added my favorite poinsettia die cut in classic red as the circle.  To add a little extra interest I put a bit of gold cord behind the poinsettia.  It's early in the year but it's always good to add a Christmas card to my 2020 stash!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches teammates have made wonderful cards with my humble sketch so be sure to check them out!  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!
