Fusion - Typewritten Thanks

We've got a great new challenge for you at Fusion.  The sketch or the inspiration - you choose!

I chose the sketch and a teeny bit of the inspiration photo.  As I was poking around blogland I saw the color challenge at The Color Throwdown and thought I might have a turkey in my stash that I could color up with the right colors.  In a nod to the typewriter I stamped a background in some type written words.  I wanted to add a "thank you" sentiment but couldn't find anything in my stash that fit without overpowering the turkey!  I'm also going to add this at Retro Rubber and their "fallin' for autumn" challenge.  The text background is from 2003 and the turkey is from 2011.  It pays to not de-stash sometimes!

Thanks for stopping by!  We'd love for you to join us at Fusion.  We've got some great inspiration for you to play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps: It's Fall About You (The Alley Way Stamps); By Definition (Stampin' Up!)
Paper:  Desert (Neenah); Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!); X-Press It Blending Card
Ink:  Black Licorice (My Favorite Things); Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up!); Copics

Happy Thanksgiving 2016!

Happy thanksgiving to all my American friends!

I had every intention of making a new and fun thanksgiving card to share with you but I just didn't have time the last few days.  So I thought I'd (again) share a card I made last year.

Now that's a sentiment every turkey can get behind.

May your turkey and stuffing be savory, may your potatoes be sweet, and may all the blessings of the season come to you and yours!

CAS(E) This Sketch 195!

At this time of year when the leaves start turning color I always want to make some cards with those warm colors.  Today I've got one to show for the latest challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.

I thought a cluster of something would be just the thing for this sketch and since it is fall, leaves are what that something is!  I sponged some cardstock with the appropriate colors then die cut the leaves.  They looked a little sparse so I added the grid background to take up some of the empty space.  I think I should have added another leaf or two!

The challenge this week at The Paper Players is a CAS challenge called "leaf."  I'm pretty sure this qualifies!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out the inspiration from my teamies at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Stamps:  Leaf Prints (Papertrey Ink); Off the Grid (Stampin' Up!); Fall Colors (Precious Remembrance)
Paper:  Classic Ivory (Flourishes); Natural White (Neenah)
Ink:  Dusy Durango, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories:  Leaf Prints die (Papertrey Ink); Autumn Harvest sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)

colourQ 318!

Since we're only a couple of days away from Thanksgiving I decided to have one more go at a card for that holiday.  I've actually made a very similar card to this before but I couldn't resist making it again one using these so-appropriate colors from colourQ!

What every turkey is thinking around this time of year don't you think?  The layout for my card comes from the sketch at Can You Case It and it was just dumb luck that it was perfect for how I like to show off my little turkey friend - CAS with no fuss!  I did take a little poetic license with the sketch by putting my sentiment on the opposite side but I really wanted my feathered friend to be facing the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and please head on over to colourQ and check out the cards the design team has made with these colors.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

Supplies:
Stamps:  My Peeps, Alphadot (Paper Smooches)
Paper:  Sweet Tooth (My Favorite Things)
Ink:  Hot Fudge (My Favorite Things); Early Espresso (SU); Copics
Accessories:  Autumn Harvest sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)

colourQ 316

Hello!  Today there's a new color palette for you at colourQ and the inspiration for it comes from these placemats.  The colors are so rich and perfect for an autumn-themed card.

I don't usually make Thanksgiving cards but I wanted a single line, simple sentiment to put to the left of those leaves and this one fit the bill perfectly!  My layout comes from the sketch at As You See It.

Be sure to stop on by colourQ and check out the cards made by my fellow design teamies.  They are gorgeous, I can tell you!  Thanks for stopping by here!

Happy Thanksgiving

Now that Halloween is done and over with it's time to look ahead to Thanksgiving.  To me cards celebrating fall and cards celebrating Thanksgiving are very often the same thing because the two things call to mind the same warm color palette.  I love the colors of fall and Thanksgiving happens to be my favorite holiday so when I saw the fall challenge at Cupcake Inspirations I wanted to play along.  I dipped into my stash for some leafy die cuts so that I could also play along with The Cutting Edge Challenge and also managed to squeeze in the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.

Give me a colorful leaf and I'm a happy camper.  And if those leaves have a stitched detail on them then I love them even more!  I added a few branches and another round leafy die cut to complement the leaves.  Once I had everything roughly assembled I thought the background was awfully plain so I added a few grungy splatters.  Die cuts make everything easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Gorgeous Gunge (SU); Fall Colors (Precious Remembrance)
Paper:  Early Espresso, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla (SU)

Accessories:  Grove Branch die (Memory Box); Stitched Leaves die (Lawn Fawn); Leaves die (Penny Black); Pine Sprig Cluster die (Impression Obsession); Sentiment Strips die (My Favorite Things)

Freshly Made Sketches 157 and Colour Me...! 41

Isn't this sketch fantastic?  It's wide open to interpretation and the star can be substituted for any shape.  I started with a little textured layer and since the colors made me think of fall I added some leaves inked up with a little rock and roll technique.

Be sure to head on over to Freshly Made Sketches and Colour Me...! to check out the beautiful cards the respective design teams have made.  They will knock your socks off!

Thanks for stopping by!

BE Inspired 42

Happy Friday!  Today is the start of a brand new BE Inspired challenge at The Alley Way Stamps blog and  your chance to win a free stamp set!  The warm colors of the inspiration photo made me think of Thanksgiving so I made this card to celebrate that iconic Thanksgiving image:  the turkey!

I think I've been waiting forever to ink up this turkey from It's Fall About You!  I love his fun plumage and can envision him colored in lots of fun ways, but today I stuck to the colors at the Color Throwdown because they were totally in keeping with the inspiration photo.  The layout of my card comes from Sketch Saturday.

Don't forget that one of the best parts of the BE Inspired challenge is that you have a chance to win a free stamp set from The Alley Way Stamps!  All you have to do is play along with the challenge using an image (or two, or three!) from The Alley Way Stamps.  And as always if you don't own any stamps yet you can find FREEBIES HERE!  One lucky participant in the challenge will be hand picked to win a free stamp set and one participant will be randomly selected to win a free stamp set!  How cool is that?

I hope you have a chance to play along and good luck!

Gobble for CASology 20 and JAI145

Even though Thanksgiving is over I had one more card in me for the holiday.  I spent the day at my sister's house and wanted to send along a card to thank them for a lovely day.  The challenge at CASology this week is GOBBLE so I had been pondering it since Tuesday.  Finally when I saw the sketch at Just Add Ink the light bulb went off!

I never even thought of this little bird as a turkey until I saw the CASology guest designer Donna's card.  So I borrowed her turkey idea to make my card.  Not everyone would appreciate this, but I'm fairly certain that my sister and her youngest son will get a kick out of it!  I'll find out soon enough because I'll put it in the mail today!

Thanks for stopping by!

colourQ 164

I thought I could squeeze in one more leafy, Thanksgiving card before the post-Thanksgiving Christmas craziness sets in and I need to really shift my focus to Christmas.  Arielle's latest colourQ challenge had a couple of colors that were perfect for autumn and a couple of colors that had me wondering how I was going to fit them into my leafy card.

The More Mustard and Cajun Craze were a no-brainer for me, but the Bermuda Bay and Concord Grape had me scratching my head.  Since I had already decided that I was going to do leaves, and there was no convincing me to do something else, I couldn't come up with a way to use those colors gracefully on my leaves so I added them by creating some layers with Lap of Luxury and Welcome Neighbor DSP.  The leaves are from French Foliage and I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes on one of the flags from the Bitty Banners die.  My layout is from the latest reto sketches challenge.

Only one more day before Thanksgiving in the U.S.  I'll be heading to my sister's where we will surely eat too much food.  Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays partly because the traditional foods we eat are some of my faves and partly because the holiday is a great excuse to get together with friends and family and not have to worry about things like shopping for gifts before-hand.  The perfect holiday!

Thanks for stopping by!
