CAS(E) This Sketch 357

It's time for a new challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch and I had a lot of fun with this one.  Our sketch this week is designed by Brian.

I used varying shades of yellow cardstock to create my ombre style background.  Then instead of using a circle I die cut a fun splatter out of the center.   I added another splatter back in to the negative space cut in a pale gray.  A simple dragonfly in a darker gray with some vellum makes a focal point.  I came across a new-to-me challenge called Allsorts and their challenge this week is "take flight."  Hello dragonfly!

Thanks for stopping by!  We've got a great new challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch and our design team has some great cards to inspire you to play along!

Supplies
Stamps:  Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Soft Stone (Papertrey Ink); Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray (Stampin' Up!); vellum (Grafix)
Ink:  Jet Black (Altenew)

Freshly Made Sketches 420

It's time for a new sketch from your friends at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our challenge is brought to you by Jen Timko.  I had a lot of ideas in my head for this sketch!

I ended up choosing a watercolor-y stamp done in blue to create the background (that's my circle) then added a butterfly and a simple sentiment strip to finish my card.  My design is simple and I love it!  The colors were inspired by the challenge at Sunday Stamps and the butterfly was inspired by the challenge at Just Us Girls.

Thanks for stopping by!  There's lots of inspiration for you from our design team at Freshly Made Sketches so be sure to stop on by.  I'm sure you'll want to play along with us!

Stamps:  Watercolor Background (Marianne Design); Painted Butterflies (Altenew); Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); White (Catherine Pooler)

CAS(E) This Sketch 356 Meets Fusion

Every couple of weeks I am challenged with combing the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration photo at Fusion.  Some weeks are easier than others.  This was one of those weeks.  I'm so grateful for those!

The color in the Fusion photo totally inspired my radiating stripes and my little yellow flower.  How cute is that little critter smelling the flower!  I have no cute critter but I totally got the flower!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow teammates at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion have created some amazing cards to inspire you to play along with us!

Freshly Made Sketches 419

It's time for a brand new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess is Lee Ann and if you're a fan of tilty layers this challenge is for you!

I love tilty layers!  I was able to take advantage of this one to dig into my seemingly never-ending stash of patterned paper.  So I created a colorful layer with some of that paper then added some pretty flowers from a stamp set I recently bought.  I love how bright and cheery this is!  A birthday sentiment let me play along with the birthday challenge at TGIF.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches teammates have made some fantastic cards with this sketch so I'm sure you'll be inspired to play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps:  Always There (Altenew); Simple Sentiments (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Pear Pizzazz, Twitterpated DSP (Stampin' Up!)

Funky Florals

I was organizing in my craft room yesterday.  One thing that drives me nuts is that the companies that make ink pads, by and large, don't put a label identifying the ink color on the side of the pad.  So since I store mine vertically I end up having to devise some system so I know what color is where.  Yesterday I attacked my Altenew ink pads and put a small dot on the sides of them.

While I was in my room I inked up an old favorite stamp set and played along with the challenges at Color Throwdown and CAS Colours & Sketches.

It's a pretty simple card with a wee birthday sentiment.  I should have taken the opportunity to use the colors for a masculine card, but I really wanted to use those flowers!

Here are my dotted ink pads.  I'm almost done with them, but I think we crafters should start a revolution and demand labels on the side!  It seems logical to me...

Less Is More 411

Today is a big day for me!  I am so pleased to be joining the designers at Less is More as a guest for their new one layer challenge!  I am a big fan of their one layer challenges so this one was right up my alley.  The twist with this one was "off center."

I did some crafty shopping lately and got some gorgeous botanical stamps so I thought they would be perfect for this challenge. I stamped the solid image to the left of my card base (the off center part) and then added a silver embossed dotted version just a bit to the right.  A small sentiment on the bottom completes the card.

Heartfelt thanks Less is More for inviting me along with them week.

Supplies
Stamps:  Dot Botanicals (Altenew); Totally Random Sayings (Essentials by Ellen)
Paper:  Pure Luxury White (Gina K Designs)
Ink:  Jet Black (Altenew); Versamark
Accessories: silver embossing powder

CAS(E) This Sketch 355

Hello!  We've got a great "new" challenge for you at CAS(E) This Sketch.  It's actually a redux of sketch #171 which originally debuted on May 5, 2017.  I made a card for that sketch which you can find here.  I love it when I  can CASE a card I made previously - it's fun to see how I interpret a design in a different way.  Here's my new version of that sketch.

I chose to make a birthday card.  I stamped a couple of grungy stamps in two shades of gray in the corner then added a butterfly stamped in a bright yellow.  I embellished the butterfly with some rhinestones and added a birthday sentiment.  Lucky for me at Global Design Project they want celebrations so my birthday card fits the bill!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow CAS(E) This Sketch teammates have some great cards to inspire you to play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps:  Gorgeous Grunge, Papillon Potpourri (Stampin' Up!)
Paper:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Limestone, Industrial Diamond, Jet Black (Altenew); Daffodil Delight (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: Jewel Basic Rhinestones (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 418

Hey there!  It's time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is Jacquie and her big curved layer leaves lots of room for interpretation.  I chose to go in a super CAS direction.

I did a little post-Christmas crafty shopping recently and picked up this great leafy stamp set from Altenew so I was anxious to ink it up.  That big curved layer on the sketch gave me lots of room to put down some of the images.  I chose a gray and some greens then added a simple sentiment.  Both the curved layer and the sentiment are popped up on foam tape to create some dimension which, happily, allowed me to play along with the latest challenge at Just Us Girls.

Thanks for stopping by!  As usual my amazing teammates at Freshly Made Sketches have created cards that will absolutely inspire you to play along with us.  So I hope you do!

Supplies
Stamps:  Leaf Clusters (Altenew); Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah)
Ink:  Silver Stone, Forest Glades, Evergreen, Jet Black (Altenew)
Accessories:  Stitched Basic Edges die (My Favorite Things)

CAS(E) This Sketch 354 Meets Fusion

Hey everyone!  It's that time when I get to combine the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration challenge at Fusion

I love the neutral colors of the Fusion inspiration photo so I kept the colors on my card to white, black, and a bit of brown.  I copied the tree images and added a simple sentiment stamped and embossed in black on vellum.

Thanks for stopping by!  My CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion teammates have each made some great cards for these challenges!  I hope you can play along with us!

Freshly Made Sketches 417

Well hello!!!  I've been on a bit of a blogging break but I was happy to go back into my craft room the other day and roll up my sleeves to make a project for our debut 2020 challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is brought to you by Judy and I love it!

The snowflake challenge at Just Us Girls helped me along with my card.  Instead of a rectangle I chose to use a giant snowflake pieced together with some glitter embossing powder and a snowflake die cut from matching glitter paper.  I added a simple sentiment embossed onto vellum (and had a heck of a time getting it to stick to the glitter paper)!  I chose blue as my color partially based on the challenge banner from Just Us Girls as well as the color challenge at Color Dare.

Thanks for stopping by!  We're excited at Freshly Made Sketches to bring you our first challenge of the year and hope that you will play along with us!

Supplies
Stamps:  Blizzard Hugs (The Ton)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); glitter paper (Recollections); vellum (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Versamark; Nocturne (Versafine Clair)
Accessories:  Bizzard Hugs die (The Ton); Marine embossing powder (Recollections); black embossing powder
