Fusion - Turquoise Rose Bouquet

Sorry I'm late with my Fusion card post.  Apparently I forgot to hit Publish 😕

The challenge inspiration has these beautiful roses in a lovely turquoise color with little bits of gold thrown in for good measure.  Using that as my first clue, I opted to use a die-cut flower (definitely not a rose) in the shades of blue as I saw them along with a bit of gold.  I incorporated that into the sketch and used some lovely corrugated kraft paper for the panel on the left side of the sketch.  I stuck some clear droplets in the center of the flowers then sprinkled a few sequins around to take up some of the blank space and add a little interest.  The script sentiment sits perfectly in the right bottom corner.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget at Fusion you can use the sketch, use the inspiration photo, or create a little fusion of your own by combining the two!

Fusion Flowers

We've got a new challenge for you at Fusion!  The inspiration suggests a rainbow but since I didn't have any suitable rainbow images (or ideas !) I went with the sketch instead.

My card was inspired by one that I saw recently that used wide washi with a floral pattern as a background and then some additional layers for a sentiment.  I didn't have any wide washi but I have a rather large supply of patterned paper and I figured that would work just as well.  So I picked one that was pleasing to my eye, used that as a background, and added one slim layer in a complementary color and another in black because I love the contrast!  Oh and I added a die cut sentiment in black too!

Thanks for stopping by! My fellow Fusion teammates have some great cards to inspire you to play along with us so be sure to check them out!

Supplies
Stamps:  Awesome (Neat & Tangled)
Paper:  Lucky Limeade, Basic Black (Stampin' Up!); American Crafts
Ink:  Versamark
Accessories:  Awesome die (Neat & Tangled); Slanted Strips die (My Favorite Things); Opaque Bright White embossing powder (WOW)

Freshly Made Sketches 299!

Well here we are again at Wednesday!  Why is it that the days motor on like Speedy Gonzales?  I wish they would slow down because I've got loads of things to do and not enough time to do them!  But enough of that.  Freshly Made Sketches day is, of course, Wednesday and we've got a great sketch by Kim this week.

How's that for a fabulous sketch!  I spent a lot of time thinking about this sketch and how I was going to do those vertical elements.  Luckily I found this unique challenge at As You See It that asked about what  you do when your crafting mojo deserts you.  Well for me, I like to CASE myself.  I find a card that I particularly like and re-work it a bit.  That's how I got my inspiration for todays card:  by CASEing a card I made about a year ago.  I used the same stencil and the same basic sentiment.  Just changed up the layout.  There's a "beach" challenge going on at Cupcake Inspirations that gave me my colors.  I used Sahara Sand and Baja Breeze, both pretty beachy colors!

Thanks for stopping by and you will be wowed, for sure, at the cards the Freshly Made Sketches design team has made for this challenge so be sure to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 284

It's been a busy week with almost no time for stamping but I couldn't miss our Wednesday sketch reveal over at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess and sketch designer is Karren and her sketch is an instant classic!

My card was inspired by a couple of recent rainbow challenges.  Rainbows aren't normally my thing, especially the arched-with-a-pot-of-gold variety, but then I saw a card made for this CAS-ual Fridays challenge by Ilina Crouse and suddenly I saw rainbows in a whole new way.

If I was going to do this card again I think I would maybe use lighter shades of color because I think my shimmery star accents get lost on these dark ones.  And now you've gone back for a second look because you didn't see those the first time around, right?  The two hearts on the sketch became stars on my card that I die cut from some glimmer paper.  They look pretty in real life but here they are a bit washed out.

And since I missed the deadline for the CAS-ual Fridays rainbow challenge I'm going to enter this in the challenge at Addicted to CAS which has the same theme.  I'm not sure this card is CAS enough for that challenge, though!

Thanks for stopping by.  And be sure to check out the latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our design team has whipped up some beautiful cards to inspire you this week!

CAS(E) This Sketch 213!

Hello there!  It's Thursday so that means it's time for a new challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch!  The sketch may have clouds and raindrops but I had a different interpretation in mind.

My ink splatter has drops around it that echo the raindrops on the sketch.  And I die cut the sentiment right out of the center of it and popped it up so that it could be seen better.  They are looking for green and white creations at The Paper Players and I think this fits the bill!

My teamies at CAS(E) This Sketch have some fabulous cards to inspire you to play along with us so be sure to check them out.  We'd love to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 209!

There's a brand new sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch brought to you this week by Chrissy .  When I saw it I knew instantly what stamp I wanted to use for that big focal image!

I loved the colors at CAS on Sunday so I used those on my card, although my Bermuda Bay looks a little washed out.  I love this awesome die, especially how it looks layered with the solid background.  And the accompanying sentiments that go with it give lots of choices for a "go get 'em" type card!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the inspiration from the CAS(E) This Sketch design team.  We'd love to have you play along with us!

CAS(E) This Sketch 185!

Happy Thursday everyone!  Today there's a new sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch designed by Leigh.  Initially, this was stumper for me and then I remembered the "light up my life" challenge at The Paper Players and new this sunburst stencil would be just the thing.

I wanted my focal image to have a defined point on the center-right, like the sketch.  The rays of my sunshine fan out and fade to the left, which is a wee bit farther than the image on the sketch, but you get the idea!  A bold sentiment later and I was done!  Easy peasy!

If you haven't come here from the CAS(E) This Sketch blog then run, don't walk, over there to see the amazing inspiration from the design team for this sketch.  You will not be disappointed and I am sure that you will be inspired to join us in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch 175

I got some new stamps in the mail the other day and was anxious to fire them up with the newest challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.  This very awesome sketch is designed by Hannelie.

I used my Clarity Stencil Brushes with a stencil to brush on some color behind the sentiments.  I am so glad that I found these brushes because compared to sponging, it is SO much easier to put down even, consistent color.  No spongey-swirl marks here!

The colors for my card come from this gorgeous palette at Fab Friday.  The Blackberry Bliss is really dark on the card stock I used and looks almost black here but I assure you it is that deep, rich blackberry color we all know and love!

Thanks for stopping by!  And don't forget to check out the amazing inspiration from the CAS(E) This Sketch design team this week.  Those gals will knock your socks off!
