Freshly Made Sketches 588

It's my turn to be the hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I literally dreamt up this angular sketch in that moment when you wake up before your alarm goes off and you are trying desperately to go back to sleep.  I think I was dreaming about making a card and thought "angles might be fun."  We'll see if you agree!

I wanted an interesting background for those angles so I found this pretty patterned paper in my stash of Christmas papers.  I added the Joy sentiment popped up on foam.  The sentiment was a little blah on its own, so I brushed it with some Wink of Stella.  Poof!  Instant pretty!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team members have some great cards to inspire you to play along with us, so check them out!

Freshly Made Sketches 587

We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Our hostess is Jen Timko and if you like circles, or big and bold shapes, you'll love this design!

I loved the bold colors at the Sunday Stamps Challenge and wanted to incorporate them into this design.  My favorite funky flower stamp was just the thing to make this card come to life!  I stamped the sentiment in a subtle shade of gray so that it wouldn't detract from these fun colors.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team members have made some great cards so be sure to hop on by and check them out!

Stamps:  Funky Florals (Papertrey Ink); Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Whisper White, Smoky Slate (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Azurite, Razzleberry, Fresh Lemon, Gray Denim (Altenew)
Accessories:  enamel dots (Studio Calico; My Mind's Eye)

Freshly Made Sketches 586

Hi friends!  We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess is Jacquie and her sketch is a classic one for sure!  I had fun rotating the sketch to accommodate these fun triangular trees.

So.  My triangular trees seem to be layered a little haphazardly but there's a story there!  I started by inking and stamping a lot of those triangular trees.  As I fussy cut them out I put them down in the same spot on my desk.  When I was done they were layered in a way that looked pretty interesting to me. Some were upright and some were twisted this way and that.  So cool!  So using a piece of Press-N-Seal I managed to preserve the layout and put all those trees down as the focal point on my card.  The colors I used were inspired by the challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown.

Thanks for stopping by!  Of course you can count on my fellow Freshly Made Sketches teammates to have made some great cards with this sketch.  So be sure to check them out!

Freshly Made Sketches 585

So last week I forgot to hit "Publish" so my card for Freshly Made Sketches went unseen.  This week I'm just late. 😉 But I do have a card for our newest challenge with a design from Judy.

I will be totally honest and say that those vertical layers gave me.......pause.  What-to-do what-to-do....  So I opted for my rescue when I'm unsure how to mix layers - vellum.  I dug deep into my stash and found this pretty patterned paper with a butterfly pattern to it then I added the five horizontal vellum layers.  I added a die-cut butterfly to it and called it a day!

The challenge at Addicted to CAS is "monochrome" and I designed this card with that in mind, but I'm not sure it meets their CAS standards.  Apologies to the DT over there if this is over the top!

Thanks for stopping by!  My Freshly Made Sketches design team members have made some fantastic cards with this sketch so I'm sure you will be inspired to play along with us!
