Freshly Made Sketches 308

The calender says October but the weather still says summer here!  Despite that I managed to put myself in the autumn mood with my card for our latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week Rita is our hostess and her sketch is a classic design.

I used the colors from The Paper Players.  I'll admit that I really wanted to use some green on here for the leaves but I resisted the urge!  Instead I used peach with a little brown rolled onto the edges thinking they'd look like fall foliage.  I don't think I succeeded!  In hindsight I think I should have left the leaves off and used another sunflower instead.

I don't have air conditioning in my house so the humidity can wreak havoc on my cards.  I made this card on Sunday and didn't photograph it until Monday so it managed to curl from all the moisture in the air.  You can see it's got a gentle arc to it as it sits upon my frog!

Our Freshly Made Sketches design team has got some beautiful cards for this sketch so be sure to check them out.  I hope you can join us in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

The sunflower is such a striking image and I like its autumn-foliage leaves with the touch of brown. I really like the way you've taken such a classic image and modernised it with little touches like the splatter background, the torn washi-tape look of your sentiment strip and the use of a hashtag. Lovely! Thanks for joining in with us at The Paper Players.

I think your peachy leaves look lovely Jen! This is a wonderful card and I love that PTI sunflower! Humidity is the worst. How can you get through it with no air? You're stronger than I am, I can't stand humidity!!

Beautiful autumn-themed card, Jen, although it sounds like you haven't yet got past summer! We're having the wettest month in years over here - so I think Mother Nature is a bit confused!

I love this Jen! What a great layout, and you managed to incorporate the challenge colors perfectly. Makes me crazy when the humidity warps my cards, too! Thanks so much for playing along with us this week at The Paper Players!

I love that cheery sunflower and the fun splattered background. No air conditioning -- this Texas girl cannot even imagine that kind of a life. :)

No air conditioning? What?? lol

I LOVE this. Your sunflower is so pretty. I think you make me need this set every time you use it. I might have to put it on my Santa list. :) Same for that Tim Holtz set. I think I just want to be you. :)

I'm over Summer and the heat already and we haven't even hit Summer yet! It's going to be a hot one down under!
Your card is just gorgeous Jen - the sunflower and the warm of those colours is perfect!
