Pinks & Pearls

I'm excited to share that I am the guest designer at As You See It for their Pinks & Pearls challenge.  It seems that the design team over there liked one of my cards recently and invited me to be a guest designer!  I always get a goosebump or two when I get recognized for one of my cards!

It's no secret that I tend to gravitate towards clean and simple cards so I love a challenge that has got lots of elements to it.  I get to stretch my creative wings!  For my card I embossed the background and sponged on some color to give it a little depth.  Then I added two layers cut with a deckle die set in shades of pink.  The top layer was cut in white with the same deckle die and sponged on the edges to create an aged look.  Then it was stamped with a simple branch.  The blossoms on the branch were colored with different shades of pink.  I added a few pearls and I was done!  I love how this came out!

Thanks again to the design team at As You See It for inviting me to play along with them!

Freshly Made Sketches 574

Hi stamping friends!  We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is Jen Brum and her tilty sketch is so fun!

I thought patterned paper would be a good idea for this sketch and the color challenge at Sunday Stamps got me doing a deep dive in my stash to find something suitable.  I was pretty sure that I had some that would fit the bill and sure enough, I did!  I added the diagonal paper in complementary colors and stamped a sentiment on the widest layer.

Thanks for stopping by!  This is such a great sketch and our fearless Freshly Made Sketches design team has made some fabulous cards with it, so be sure to check it out!

Freshly Made Sketches 573

We've got a fabulous new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess and sketch designer this week is Kim.  Those vertical banners can be interpreted in so many different ways!

I used a rainbow of colors to create that horizontal layer.  I decided to lighten it up a bit with a sentiment in white and I thought I was done.  But after looking at the finished card I thought there was a little something missing so I added the wee flowers.  I used this very strange tool in my stash that has a little ball on the end to make a small depression in the center of the flowers.  This made them pop up a bit and I added some Nuvo drops in the center so they didn't look so plain.  The whole card is so cute!

Thanks for stopping by!  My Freshly Made Sketches teammates have some fabulous interpretations of this sketch so be sure to check them out!  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 572

Hi all!  It's Wednesday, so that means we've got a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess is Linda and those big circles on her sketch turned into dahlias on my card!

This dahlia stamp set is very tricky to try and layer but after several years of trying, I think I've finally got it down!  For my card I used blues on the flowers and reds on the background, both inspired by the color challenge at As You See It Challenge.  That horizontal layer is actually some ombre glimmer paper and it is so pretty in real life!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team friends have made amazing cards with this sketch so be sure to check them out!

Freshly Made Sketches 571

Hi friends.  Today I am the hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches.  I made a sketch that kinda-sorta looks like a slimline, but don't let that shape fool you.  You can do whatever shape you want!

I went way into my stamping archives to make this card.  The patterned paper is from Basic Grey that I've had it in my stash for years but I don't know the name.  And the card base is some confetti cardstock from Stampin' Up! that I'm sure was retired ages ago, but I love it because it's a warm color with flecks of color in it.  It was perfect for this card.  And the sentiment.  Seriously, how true is this?

Thanks for stopping by!  I sure hope that you check out the inspiration from our Freshly Made Sketches design team and join us in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 570

We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess and sketch designer this week is Jen Timko.  I loved the sketch when I first saw it, but oddly it gave me trouble when I tried translating it to an actual card.  But I eventually prevailed!

I had many ideas floating around in my head when I contemplated the sketch, but none of them panned out!  I wanted to use some of my patterned paper stash, but nothing looked quite right to me.  Then I stumbled on this old Stampin' Up! set and decided to use the big sentiment in it and draw lines around it, which would take the place of that narrow layer at the top of the sketch.

I colored the stamp with four different SU markers then "huffed" on the stamp to keep the ink wet.  Remember huffing?!?!?!  It worked and I was pleased to see the stamp inked in the colors I intended!

My fellow Freshly Made Sketches design team members have made some absolutely fabulous cards with this sketch, so you just have to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 569

Hi friends!  We've got a new sketch for you today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is Jacquie and I love how her sketch makes so many designs possible.

My card took many twists and turns this week!  I started out wanting to use a beautiful stenciled flower image, but the image was too big to fit on a landscape oriented card.  I thought about changing it to portrait, but the proportions of the layers would be wrong so I scrapped that idea.  So I went back and increased the scale and found myself with a giant 6 x 6 card.  Still I was not happy so I did what any crafter would do....I slept on it.

The next day I grabbed this graphic image that's been in my stash for ages, stamped it in black and filled in some of the squares with the colors from the latest Global Design Project challenge.  The slim horizontal layer was just a repeat of those colors in tiny blocks that I glued together.

I have no idea what kind of sentiment I would put on this card, or who I would give it to, but it pleases whatever bit of artistic soul I've got.  😊

Thanks for stopping by!  As you might expect my teammates at Freshly Made Sketches have got some great cards to WOW you with, so be sure to check them out.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 568

Happy Wednesday friends!  It's time to reveal our new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess and sketch designer is Judy.  She has given us a sketch that seems so simple at first, but as you will see by the design team cards can be interpreted in so many fabulous, crafty ways!

I went old-school designer paper heavy on my card.  I wanted some patterns and contrast for my design and this designer series paper seemed to fit the bill.  I added the trio of flowers in pink to take the place of the squares on the sketch.  Totally ok!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you can join us at Freshly Made Sketches for our challenge this week!
